Rachel passed her Instinct test and qualified in both the morning and
afternoon large dog novice classes even taking a third place in a big novice large dog morning class. Baci came along and also passed her
Instinct test being the first English setter with a RATI! On to indoor
NJ barn hunts so Rachel can try to earn her third and final leg to be the first English setter with a RATN!

Rachel went To Breakaway Action Dogs on December 1, 2012 to be tested for odor recognition of birch in preparation for nosework trials and passed in 21 seconds!

In April, Rachel made a trip to Decoverly Kennel where she found and pointed her first chukar. Below is a photo of her find. On May 28 and 29, 2011, she went to the Delaware Valley German Wirehair Pointer Club's hunt tests in Weatherly, Pa.and picked up her first two Junior Hunter legs. If you're looking for a fun place to hunt test, I can't recommend them more...the folks are super hospitable, the grounds are great and the food is wonderful!

After tonight's meeting of dog scout troop 171, I finished the owner part of the dog scout badge and Rachel is now officially a dog scout! I ordered a uniform to put her dog scout badge on so she can proudly wear it out in public. When it is ready, I will make her pose for a photograph. I met a prospective dog scout owner named Kathy Gesford (234-3103). She is certified to test dogs for Therapy Dog International. She is also certified to test dogs to do therapy for the Red Cross Disaster...

Rachel has week two of a six week retrieve class today. She has been taking plastic, metal and wooden dumbells along with cotton gloves quickly on a first cue of "Take It" and holding them for at least 3 seconds - until given the "Give" cue. I am now working on stimulus control with her. In other words, she is not supposed to take the dumbell until I ask her to do so. The monthly dog scout meeting for troop 171 was held tonight. Rachel finished taking the dog scout test and passed. As soon as I finish the owner test, she can get her uniform and dog scout badge!

Rachel went to the PA. Farm Show building to participate in the What Dogs Can Do Exhibit. She is a working therapy dog and, so, spent her time meeting and greeting people explaining what therapy dogs do when on duty. She convinced one nice lady to share her french fries and another to share her Turkey Hill ice cream sample!
