Rachel has week two of a six week retrieve class today.  She has been taking plastic, metal and wooden dumbells along with cotton gloves quickly on a first cue of "Take It" and holding them for at least 3 seconds - until given the "Give" cue.  I am now working on stimulus control with her.  In other words, she is not supposed to take the dumbell until I ask her to do so.  She seems to understand at home and I am anxious to see if she can generalize to Betsy's building.  Unfortunately, Betsy c...

The monthly dog scout meeting for troop 171 was held tonight.  Rachel finished taking the dog scout test and passed.  As soon as I finish the owner test, she can get her uniform and dog scout badge!

Rachel went to the PA. Farm Show building to participate in the What Dogs Can Do Exhibit.  She is a working therapy dog and, so, spent her time meeting and greeting people explaining what therapy dogs do when on duty.  She convinced one nice lady to share her french fries and another to share her Turkey Hill ice cream sample!  When her shift was over, she got to visit with some of the farm animals that were there for the show.  A swine that was 248 pounds snorted at her and a goat tried to he...
